Umm..let’s be honest. Shopping online from the comforts of our couch is a blessing, and bane; it’s a blessing when you don’t have to brave the snaking traffic. And bane, because let’s be honest, it take tremendous self-restraint not to key in the credit card numbers and shop what you just saw on an Instagram account.
Gosh! these Instagram accounts are so addictive. According to a recent study,
Instagram influences almost 75% of user purchase decisions.
So, it’s little wonder that when an Instagrammer with even a few thousand followers tags products, one is tempted to buy. More often than not, you will find these products sold out. Be it a blouse or a sofa.
That’s the power of validation.
There are over a hundred home decor stores with a zillion products. It can be overwhelming to choose between a walnut-finish versus teak-finish sideboard, or an end table with metal legs versus one with no legs. A product that may look great on its own may not be the perfect fit for your own setup. So, yes, it helps when you see a piece of furniture repeated across several homes in different settings.
Now, that explains why a few piece of furniture are instantaneous hits and fly off the shelves as soon as they make an appearance on someone’s page.
This post is a curation n celebration of those pieces of furniture that are a favorite with influencers and interior designers. Believe me, the online home decor landscape has changed so much in the past three years that given a choice to do it all over again, I would set up the home with pieces bought online than go through the nightmare of having wood work done onsite.

Sideboards
Sideboards are nothing but wooden cabinets that come in several designs from sliding doors with a chest of drawers or just doors with a couple of drawers; they are a heaven send to store the knick knacks and other things you want handy, but not are buried deep in the closet. You can also use them to store blankets, extra sheets instead of stuffing them in the closet. The drawers are an efficient way of organizing cuff links and other paraphernalia which make them more accessible than sliding the doors of a walk-in closet every time.
They are so versatile that they fit in anywhere from a pathway to the bedroom. If you really don’t have a need for such a cabinet in the bedroom, you can always move it to the dining room.
Here are two great options:
Fujiwara sideboard for Rs.34,999 from Urban Ladder
Paloma sideboard for Rs. 20,499 from Pepperfry. Pepperfry, in particular, has a wide range to choose from that will go with the decor of your room from contemporary to eclectic.
