A Fun Mix of Contemporary & Luxury in a Cozy Surat Home

This is a luxurious, contemporary home for businessman designed by P & D Associates.

Often, we see a mix of design styles in a home like traditional + contemporary, or traditional + modern, or ethnic + modern. But, this is contemporary in every aspect from furniture to walls and colours.

About the project

Who lives here: a businessman and his family

Size: 2647 sq.ft

Location: Surat

Designed by: P & D associates

Design Aesthetic: Contemporary

The house sticks to the colour palette of blue, grey, and black. Artifacts and furniture pieces in saturated hues like red and deep blue make an appearance to offset the rhythm for that dramatic effect. Otherwise, gray shines through.

I’m seeing so many homes decked in gray of late and still don’t get tired of this neutral shade. Just goes on to prove how many layers there are to this otherwise dull colour.

Living Room

The materials hold the space strongly with a particular color palette. The furniture in the living room stand on skinny legs giving an illusion as if they are floating above the floor to bring a sense of weightlessness to the space.

This unique living space features smoke grey tones everywhere you see, with a velvety finish bespoke rug matching the center table just right. A brass rod runs along the periphery on walls separating white Italian marble from the smoky grey paint. The brass rod connects the living space to the dining and kitchen spaces.

One of the signatures of this house are a mix of large and small artworks in colours and styles that blend with the contemporary theme. All the rooms except one bedroom feature clean and straight lines with a minimalist look.

Bedrooms

The house flows fluidly from one room to another. Every room of the house is designed around one primary colour around which all the other elements are anchored. The architect says:

Creating a quiet backdrop free of dissonance to facilitate accent colors, we chose to use a subdued color palette throughout this entire luxury apartment. Breezy and cozy feel of the room with terrain color palette and darker terrazzo selection gave a clean and simple look to the room. A custom made lamp breaks the simplicity of the room, making it look bold and humble at the same time.
