IC: ddecor.com This post is a collection of 12 pretty floral patterns in fabrics that feel good to wear and dress your home with this summer. Mercury is soaring. It’s only 7:00 a.m. As I draw the curtains in my living room, it’s blinding with light from the morning sun streaming through the tall windows. The season of aam panna, chaach, and lemonade is here. As are chikans and something light and loose to wear. Well, how about the home: do you dress your home like you would dress yourself ? As much as I like the layers and cosiness of the winter, I love rusticity in summers — benches by the garden, floral fabrics for cushions and curtains, and white sheers lining the windows. One’s personal choice can be easily stamped in the things around them. Here are some ways to dress yourself and your home this summer. It is all…
Easter is a reminder of how soon time flies. It marks the end of another school year, and the beginning of summer break. With kids home, Easter is a harbinger of a prolonged period of messy homes, and DIY craft and science experiments all around the home. Some gone awry, of course. If you haven’t given Easter decorations much thought, don’t fret. I’ve rounded up seven, super-easy, fun DIY projects that you can do with materials around the house. You don’t have to run errands for craft supplies. But, you know what the biggest motivator is: these project promise to keep your kids busy for a while. 1. I was thrilled when Better Homes and Gardens approached me to be a part of their Diwali issue. Seeing your name in print gives the thrills that few other things match up to; it’s one of those things that makes you drive across town to pick up a copy and flaunt it on the coffee table. I’m a huge fan of decor and interior magazines and can’t wait for the new issues to arrive by mail the first week every month. Despite the incessant eye-candy on Instagram from varied sources, nothing really lives to the feeling of flipping through a physical magazine lounging on the couch. That feeling is irreplaceable. The issue is packed with festive decor ideas, recipes, shopping recommendations, and style tips Here is a snippet of the pages featuring me alongside bloggers Preethi, Sharon, and Sruthi. Do you still subscribe to magazines? If so, which ones? I’m…
Hola! Let’s begin with a small activity, shall we? If you are at home, walk up to your bedroom. Plonk yourself on the bed. Who do you love the most in this world? Close your eyes. Take your time to think. Who was it? Let me guess: was it your parents, child, spouse? …. …. …. …. …. I was expecting, “Myself”. As in you. Now, look around, do you feel happy in this most private space of yours? Is it a reflection of what you love? Often, the space that is the most private to us gets lost in the race with the rest of the house. This space requires constant attention and revamping just as we grow and transform over the years. I believe our tastes in books, people, food, fashion finetune themselves with age. This post is a reflection of how I perceive this space to be. Unveiling…
It will be July in two days. We’d planned a trip to the backwaters of Kerala last weekend but some good friends advised it would be best to stay away from the region during monsoon. But, but, whatever happened to the rains this year. As I write this, it’s bright and sunny in Bangalore. I love sitting in my modest balcony more than in any other part of the house. So, I’m thinking why not give the outdoors a makeover?
What’s your style? Sassy and chic, or a comfortable and laid-back one; neither style scores over another. It’s a personal choice.
If you are nuts about colors, then this one is for you. Nature does most of the decking up with the never ending greens. Throw in a red carpet and some colorful cushions – lighter on the purse to get the most rejuvenating environment, what do you think ?
Given the high pollution levels, it’s intimidating to think of an outdoorsy all-white decor like this one in Bangalore. Nevertheless, can’t stop salivating over the different shades of white accentuated by the potted greens in this picture.
