A caveat: you may be tempted to bookmark this for a two room house design. I have a fascination for geometry. As a pre-teen, I would spend hours on those rainy afternoons, drawing repetitive patterns of triangles, squares and intersecting lines. The clever usage of parallel lines in this 2 BHK apartment designed by Komal Sachdev took me back to those self-indulgent afternoons 30 years ago.
Grey, black, and oak as dark & moody colors rule the palette of this home. It’s not a overly minimalist, contemporary home. It makes brilliant use of a modest square footage to accommodate and make room for storage in two bedrooms.

A series of lining boards in the background stained in dark color run throughout the home with line as pattern that provides texture and warmth to the home.
Foyer + Living
The main door opens to a passage that leads to the living room. The passage houses a full height shoe cabinet on the left; finished with snow white hi-gloss paint and oak veneer. To the right is a beautiful piece of art hand painted in shades of blue.
The living room sports a subdued wall with gray line pattern behind the sofa. Overlooking the living is the dining.
The dining table in white marble top and the Prussian Blue chairs played a strong element very silently. The smoked glass chandelier is another hallmark piece. The custom made console in grey oak veneer with custom made PVD gold legs and details adds warmth, elegance and balances the oak veneer TV wall.
Kitchen
Komal says,
Since we extended the living room until the flower bed, we had to make it a part of this space with contrasting materials. Hence we went subtle with elements and let the beautiful texture of the veneer, fooden floor and furnishings do the talking. The grey panel opening leads to the passage that has access to the bedrooms and the kitchen.
The kitchen is angular in shape; to make it look spacious yet maintenance free, the designers opted for grey acrylic shutters and added oak lamination to highlight the key areas.
The hexagon tile back splash reinforces the geometry in design of the house.
Kid’s Room Design
It’s always challenging to do a growing kid’s room as their taste changes rapidly. The colorful room is designed using Harry Potter elements. The design overall is minimal; Bumble Bee Yellow along with Raku Grey and white has been used.
Master Bedroom Design
This space gives you a sense of warmth, elegance and coziness. The bed back that has Raku Grey hi gloss paint topped with an elegant white petal frame and custom made wall mounted lights in black & rose gold.
The headrest and bed are finished with smoke grey fabric and the pleated front adds to the details. The grey laminates, walls and furnishings complete the monochromatic bedroom.
The chevron patterned bench breaks the grey tone and the solid color theme. Similarly, the mint green side table is like a whiff of fresh air with custom designed rose gold handles.
The bath area was a complete contrast as the designers chose three different patterns. The evergreen saturio was used in the dry area while the grey quadrilateral block print tile was used in the shower area. Adding some fun was the geometric print tile in the floor, making it truly a part of THE GEOMETRIC ABODE.
