If you are a decor aficionado, the chances are bleak you haven’t heard of The Purple Turtles or visited the store. The store is located in Indira Nagar, the neighborhood has earned the reputation of being a heaven for home decor enthusiasts. There are a few traditional furniture stores in the vicinity you may want to check if you are around the area.

I visited them last week to perk myself up after what seemed like an unending few days of wallowing in self-pity. They say getting out does wonders to break the pattern, and boy, you bet it did. It had been a few months since I last visited them so I took my time to browse through what was new.
The Purple Turtles started primarily as a lighting store 10 years ago and gradually went on to add distressed furniture, vintage posters and artifacts curated from around the country. You cannot be in a rush to go through the entire store; it takes time to admire the styling of many corners.
Many times I don’t have anything particular in mind to buy, but you will come across something that fits a corner in your perfectly at a reasonable price. That’s how I bought the distressed wooden photo frame on the second floor. They have many in several sizes. This, other time, I was confused what kind of lights to buy for the double height room. I showed pictures and the staff were helpful in helping me decide.
If FabIndia is for the sophisticated and the polished, this is for the laid back. This is more like old wine with a taste and appreciation for finer things in life.
