This is the view of the lush green garden space from our living room. Nothing is more uplifting than gazing at plants symbolizing life. But, I can’t have enough of them and yearn to bring in the greenery indoors. This post is an effort in that direction.
I have curated a list of 8 plant containers to place the pots in stairway corners, entryways, corridors etc. The materials vary from seagrass baskets to wooden and ceramic planters.
To be honest, other materials such as metal and aluminium did not initially figure on my list. I was fixated on finding baskets of the sorts you often see in magazines and Instagram feeds of Western and Scandinavian homes. The baskets and containers that hold huge Monstera or Fiddle leaf plants. They are either hard to come by locally or put a huge hole in the pocket.
A few weeks back, while driving to Pondicherry, I came across ceramic planter roadside on the outskirts of Pondicherry. It was this beautiful white planter with engraving of a yellow Frangipani leaf. To my surprise, the hotel we stayed at was decorated with several of these planters. I wanted to pick a couple on our way back. I realized they were cement planters and quite heavy to be carted back. Have you seen those huge glazed ceramic pots in commercial spaces and model homes – the kind made by Gaia Pottery. Anyways, so my criteria was to look for lightweight planters while putting together this list.
This compact planter basket can fit in snugly into any corner. The size is good enough to place a pot with a palm. The material makes it easy to move around. I would love it see it in natural color. The cylindrical shape makes it ideal as a planter.
LARGE BASKET FROM NICOBAR FOR Rs 1650
This two-tone natural hand woven wonder is perfect to bring that earthy look to a corner. For a weird reason, when I look at such baskets it reminds me of coastal villas in Greece or something equally exotic. To be honest, my quest for such baskets was the genesis of this post. Slowly I expanded to included other materials like metal and wood to the list. This one tops my list.
MODERN PLANTER STAND IN WOOD FOR Rs 749
There are no guesses here. That gorgeous sea green pot is the showstealer here. But the combination of dark wood against that boho pot seals the deal. This is the perfect choice for an eclectic home. Or, if your room lacks color and you want to bring in some, then go for this combination.
MID-CENTURY WOOD PLANT STAND FOR Rs 1599
This plant stand has been a rage recently taking over many gram handles. Minimalist, simple, and modern at the same time. Compact in design but bombastic in style. This will fit universally across all themes of a space.
LARGE WOODEN PLANTER FOR Rs 1499
A DIY enthusiast would be craving to get his/her tools out to make this plant stand from what looks like sheets of a crate. a great choice for a laid back style, not so much for a modern and sophisticated one. And, I would choose a different plant than the palm.
LIGHT GRAY STONE FINISH PLANTER FOR RS 1853
Yes, looks can be deceiving. This stone finish planter is deceptive to make one think it is bulky, but it is light weight.
This one is another favorite for my entryway. Often seen in commercial spaces, this pot is an ideal space filler to bring life into a room or any dull corner. I’m eyeing this for one corner of my living and the entryway.
ALUMINIUM CYLINDER PLANTER FOR Rs 3300
This silver finish cylindrical planter is an unusual choice for a planter. Makes me wonder if old steel and aluminum buckets can be used to lend that worn out look.
A LARGE SEAGRASS BASKET FOR Rs 1897
This sea grass basket is similar in style to the one we saw before.
